hi new to site just to say hi. have just started new project bike. will need lots of help
for rebuild. after looking found the clutch was operated from right hand side not left.
no cable fitted so was at a loss until i took covers off. looking at sorting wiring. saw on site
that a lucas car regulator would do same job so ordered one,. £10 on flea bay.
there is no rectifier do you have to find stock item or are there replacments ?/. see the
electrics are quite primative any help nice thanks the sl :D ug

Hi Slug.
The 12V electronic regulator conversion is worth doing, I had one on my old 251 for five years and it "just worked." So far as I know, it's still going five years later.

The rectifier is specific to MZs, but they're the same ones fitted to all ETZ125, 150, 250 and pre-Saxon 251s.

If you're in the UK, I've probably got one you can have for beer money plus postage.

Here's a useful link http://www.sweller.co.uk/mz/mods/mod_12vreg.html . The rectifier is usually mounted on the rear mudguard under the seat, it looks like a flat plate with wires coming off it. I don't know if there is a replacement for it. BMW's system is simular, using a seperate rectifier and regulator, but I have never tried to fit one.
