MZ love affair

Postby hris1576 » Sat Nov 08, 2014 1:47 pm

Hi,

New here, Previous MZ's as follows...

TS150 Eagle in the late 70's, used it for commuting to college and to travel around the uk.
Supa 5 in the early 80's from new (a bit naughty out of the crate but fine once fettled)
TS125 Alpine mid to late 80's used for despatch riding in London (!)

Now I'm all grown up (ha! 54 going on 14) my main bike is a 2001 KTM 640 Adv which is fine. More fun than my previous 2 x Funduro's but a bit more 'needy'.

However, for the last 4 years I have been telling anyone who will listen that what I really, really want is an E. German 2 stroke . I tell them that I'll have a lie down and the feeling should go away, but it doesn't.

Now I'm looking at a 500r (too many moving parts - not a 2 stroke)), or a saxon tour 251. The latter looks favourite but I'm told fuel consumption is lousy (60mpg). My supa 5 was pretty frugal (75mpg). I've been told running later models on pre-mix does help. Any advice gratefully received.

Welcome (C)hris1576, :smt006

Been there and still trying to do it again too. 125Alpine, Supa5, 125Alpine, 125Luxus. Never wanted an ETZ but did have a friend who had a Skorpion Sport.

I was asked by 'the boy' at work ?When are you going to start wearing trousers? I was in my shorts and changing out of my overalls to go home.

When I grow up. 52 1/2 and counting.

Well I am grown up! A bit too grown up actually!

However I did all my early riding on MZ's (couldn't afford anything else) I did my first cross continent trip on an ETZ. So now I'm slowly rebuilding a Supa 5. Absolutely love it.
