It will be a revelation, honestly :)

I drove about 30 miles with the 'power pipe' on, it was hard work, like driving into a constant headwind.

Get some more pic's up when you get the proper pipe on it. I need to get some photo's of the new MZ 500 up, only right now that it's on the road and made its maiden voyage!

Dave.

Thought I knew it but I was wrong. Welcome anyway. Amongst others I have just got an ETZ250 that I am getting back on the road. Yours looks very clean.

I only live a few miles away from there, nice country lanes to get there. Bikes been well looked after, had the same owner from 1992-2005 or thereabouts. Enjoying the bike so far....

Long ownership like that is often a sign of a good bike. My ETZ250 is about to have a new back tyre on it {AVON} as the present one is badly cracked on the walls and the date stamp on it shows 1996. :( I also intend putting a new front sprocket on it as the bike has very low gearing on it because it used to pull a sidecar.

I was thinking of changing the sprocket on mine I live on a very steep hill and have to use 1st gear to get up the end bit.new tyres are in the near future aswell as a new clutch cable as the one now feels a bit "saggy"

Tyre sorted. Took it out for a spin. Very smoky at first but settled down after 10 miles. Smelt like burning 4-stroke oil but the oil I added seems to be working through now. When I got home I dropped the gearbox oil. 600ml out and 900ml in. It was like a grey thick custard mess. Will do it again after a few hundred miles to get it nice and clean.

As this won't be staying in long I used a bottle of Harley transmission oil that was hanging about in my garage at the time. When I get a few miles on the bike I will drop the oil and replace it with Spectro Primary chaincase oil which I have a stock of as I also run a Sportster. The Sportster like the MZ shares oil between the gearbox and the primary/clutch. Most people will use EP80 I think but I don't think it is as good on the clutch.

Put a standard silencer on my etz now, ordered a new one from Germany. Looks, sounds and goes much better than it did with the "power" pipe on it. Will post a pic later if I can.

Thought I'd pack the bike up and have a night in the tent whilst the weather was good. Didn't want to go to far so headed for the gower, bike was fine there and back even loaded up with all my camping stuff. Tent was great to a vango soul 200, first use of that too, plenty of room for me and my stuff packs up nice and ight aswel.
