its a dry sump motor and every thing drained past the check valve or pump
when they set for a long time you need to drain the sump and if very much comes out
you need to do an oil change as you should do on any bike that sets for a long spell

thanks Dave. Do you know where I could get a manual so I could work on this? I'm not sure where the sump is and my air filter compartment is full of oil.I've soaked the carburetor in acetone. can I just put it back together and drive it?

Dave, the air filter compartment is not supposed to be full of oil is it? I took the carburetor out and the air duct compartment is full of oil. is the oil only supposed to be in the frame? And if so how would it have gotten into the air filter compartment? thanks for all your time and help.

the bike fell over maybe
also setting can cause it to drain into the bottom where there is not supposed to be a lot
then it gets started and blown out the vent into the air filter where its a mess

also all these are getting to be OLD bikes a very good inspection of all rubber hoses
is a good idea
mine dirtied the filter when it ran laying on its side in dec 2007
previous owner may have put too much oil in yours
i think i read some where ?? 3 liters max

thanks Dave. the bike SAT for about 3 months and when I started it and drove it for a while it ran real rough and that's when the compartment filled with gas and oil. so I clean the carburetor and drain the oil out of that compartment so I guess the next thing to do is just fill it with fluids and start it and see what happens.

alway check oil in tank before starting

if it's down a bit ok let it run a while and see what the level is
if still low top it up
