TS125 1980

Postby Eire1 » Mon Jul 25, 2016 4:44 am

Hello All,

I am new to the forum and hope to get some advise. I have a 1980 TS125 for many years, every summer I get round to buying another battery and attempting to crank her up. I got her going recently on started fluid and she reluctantly ran for raz around the garden. Wondering what I need to do to make her run and start on request. Ignition and Carb are all good (cleaned & new plug) and fuel is clean, we addressed all this and it does Drive once fired (on throttle), but wont tick over, running without the filter at mo.

Wondering if there is a need to set the points and timing adjusted, and get the air/fuel mix right. I don't know much about this tuning. That's all I can think of. Would a switch to Elec ignition improve things?
Any other suggestions welcome. I assume the 6v electrics are troublesome on these as we had to change the coils in the past and there is only 2K miles on the clock from new. But acknowledge their a raw and basic enough machine that should only require a little tendering, all the essentials seem correct.

Also any recommendations on where can I order spares like the filter and air line from filter/carb, or maybe there is a tidy filter replacements to illuminate the ridicules metal box and huge filter.

Thank, AC

Hi, This of course is a bit of a guess but from what you have posted it suggests that you are having a go at starting over a few years and if over that time you are using the same fuel it could be your starting problem. New fuel may be the answer.
Hope you get it sorted. Take care Alan

Hi, sorry I forgot to mention that if money is not a problem then ''The MZ shop'' has most parts you need or if price is important then Ebay may have your requirements. I have used Miami Germany Hungary all on Ebay. Wish you well

if its 1980 even low miles the crank seals stand a good chance of being bad from age
not a good thing
when they set it's as hard on them as running them N most cases
