Bobbins for track stand--1000S or similar

Postby philinnc » Sat Jul 04, 2020 10:56 am

The bolt size for the swing arm track stand supports ('bobbins' )appear to be M8, but the standard pitch--1.25--doesn't fit. Does anyone know the correct pitch? In the 1000S Repair Manual the part number is 4038071000 for the bolt and bobbin. Thanks in advance!

Update---R&G makes a set of bobbins, available from the UK, and the seller indicates that the pitch is indeed 1.25 (coarse). I tried an M8 x 1.25 pitch tap--which started to chew the aluminum existing threads--oops! My pitch gauge also says that the pitch is 1.25. Yet no success with an M8 x 1.25 bolt. Perplexing. So today I bought a front wheel chock. When the chain needs to be adjusted I'll just hoist the rear end up.

OK--faced with the obvious--that the correct size is M8 x 1.25--I applied a bit more force to a 'proper' bolt. And voila!, after a little bit of resistance it screwed into the hole without a problem.

So--all's well that ends well.
