Saxon Tour 500 caliper

Postby 34Saxon » Fri Jul 17, 2020 6:55 am

Hello,

Anyone know what manufacturer/model caliper is on a 1995 Rotax-engined Saxon Tour? A big 'MZ' is embossed on it. I'd like to do some preventive maintenance, replace seals and dust covers and clean it up, and would prefer to have replacement parts on hand before taking it apart. Many thanks!

Maybe post a pic of your calliper?

I don't know that bike, but isn't that just the same as on the ETZ's from that era? Then it's MZ's copy of a Brembo calliper, and then there is ample supply. Look at pics from vendors, or ask them.

Grimeca caliper Rotax

Rotax and ETZ models for The seals from the 41mm small body Grimeca caliper do work fine for the MZ rebuilding purposes. You can get them from Vintage Brake in Sonora, CA.

If it's the Brembo copy, it's what was also used on the Benelli 500, BMW K75 & K100, Ducati 650, 750 Desmo, 1000S2, Moto Guzzi California, Le Mans, ... . But watch out: Brembo & Grimeca are different.

Parts vendors are listed in viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9257&p=47896#p47896.
