I here you with the float valve pin , I know one wrong move would knock the posts off and ruin a good carb,a tip if you get brave , what i did when i do mine is,, 4 hands needed.. I use a bar with a hole in the center ( tube ) -- I held this against the opposite end and tapped the pin through with a smaller pin , The idea is that the force from the hammer blow transfers through the pin, posts and is absorbed in the tube the opposite side ,

brace the end post before attempting to remove post pin

Sorry if this is a "suck eggs moment " but it may help instigate a light bulb moment for the next person to attempt this ..
Oh mutly,,you did it again, she he he he he ehheheheh

Been there... but not with carbs yet... +1 a light bulb moment...

David responds: "no mater how you do it this is a high risk move..."

I agree just looking at it, admitting no specific experiance...

Maybe a light bulb moment...

Little heat and canned cold at the right location(s), Very carefully MIGHT help minimize undesireable results. With very minimal and careful force applied.

For your consideration,

I've just taken delivery of a spare carb of ebay!!

Have given the pin on the new one a few taps with a hammer, no joy, I think someones tip of applying heat to the tower with a soldering iron is the way forwards.

I'll let you know how I get on with that.

Thanks again for the replies and tips!!! :D

What i was trying to say in the diagram was that the opposite float assy post should be supported so as to illiminate drag from the pin and snapping the post off,,hense the hole in the tube to allow the pin to be tapped through into,
Im going to check the manual though , i also didnt relise there were arrow directions for removal , knowing me ive put it back in opposite anyways.

IF you had the facilities,it lends itself to a home made pin pusher.

I can imagine a short`U` section of metal(But squared off)big enough to fit snugly over the outsides of both pillars(Using washers) ,with holes inline with the pin,one of them threaded.
You could push the pin out with a small screw in the threaded hole,
without the pillars being loaded.

Putting heat on it with a soldering iron has GOT to be well worth doing, whatever you try.

I`ve not actually seen the setup, but i can picture it,i THINK!

Just looked at the support posts that the pin goes through.
On the end of the one you might notice an arrow. FYI, I was wearing two sets of glasses.

I'll find someway to wedge something between the pillars, to spread the load between the two pillars and try the heat and tapping with a small hammer.

I've got a spare carb so I might as well, I'll post up how I get on.

If anyone wants to feel jealous, have a look at how the float in the suzuki drs is set up. Sigh.....

Its like a plastic cradle that kind of clips in and is held firm by screwing the bowl on. You just tug it out....
