as per title really, i change mine every 3rd oil change,
im almost tempted to wait until it breaks to see if it really is a non interference engine :D
(i know it is im just kidding)

about every 3 years or 15.000 miles .. i use a york belt

the real problem is the belt pulleys are known to come loose
screwing up the end of the crank or cam
also the belt idler pulley and its bearing needs looked at often

hmmm 15000miles i probaby would have been through a couple of belts, (old ktm habits)
came loose, do you not use loctite?? ive never had a pulley loosen up,
but its probably good practice to check every oil change/ belt adjustment

some do not loctite the pulley bolts ..i do
but that idler pulley needs checked often
if you do long distance high speed runs
due to its small size it can run some very high rpm
and its not lubed by the engine just packed by the bearing factory
i use a thing called a wright lubricator to repack it often

Definitely non-interference. I've broken belts on the road. Easy enough roadside fix, so keep a spare. Every year would be a good time to change if you ride a lot. I knew somebody who had a souped up rotax racing engine that sucked in a shop towel. No damage, just turned it around until it came back out the carb... Tough stuff...
