Part throttle good Full throttle bad

Postby hurricane59 » Wed Oct 26, 2005 2:36 pm

Hi, Can one of you clever people help me with a problem with my Baggy
She starts and idles from hot or cold no problem. She pulls away and runs on part throttle no problem. Open the throttle in any gear and she cuts out , backfires and will nut run untill the throttle has been closed. The bike is standard and under 2 years old.
On a different matter, for those of you like me who run only on the street I suggest you Continental Road Attack tyres in standard sizes they are brilliant.

I would: change the plug. it is probably carb related, the diaphram that lifts the slide can get a fracture, or you have a plugged main jet.

look at the carb linkage as you blip the throttle, does it only do it when the secondary carb comes online?

what is the condition of your air filter? are you running a stock exhaust?

start there and let us know if you need more help.

I agree with phlat65
Sounds like it's a carb problem, Posibly diaphram sticking
Worth checking the air filter and air box for obstructions
If it's under 2 years old, it should still be under warrenty
take it back to the shop, slowly

You're spot on about the tyres.

Hi Guy's

Thanks for your help. I changed the plug, drained the float chambers and checked all the carb controls. Seems OK, I would think that your idea about blocked jets were probably on the nose. If it happens again I will strip and clean the carbs, in the mean time I will fit a fuel filter.
