water hose exhaust interface

Postby roge-a-billy » Fri Nov 11, 2005 1:17 pm

On checking over my baggi, i noticed the water hose that exits the top of the water pump too the block was touching the exhaust. Some melting/ware has already happened. Only comes in contact when hot ( pipe expands). Will be fitting a larger piece of hose over it for now, for protection. Anybody else come across this?? or am I just "lucky"

always watch the rubber parts the quality of rubber as oem has always
been poor and it has even gotten worse here in the usa in the last few years

we have a speical police unit here in my town they work a 5 county area
in 2 states they busted over 300 meth labs in 3 years so its not to good here either as the nuts trash a house so bad the epa condems them most of the time :( this area has always been bad for the drugs we are in the middle of the eastern usa and 75% of the country is 30 hour drive time from here like denver co is 20 /25 hours with 2 drivers

Thermo-Tec has some good products for covering the coolant hose.

...but i think i'll look for something alternative first .

When I was fiddling with the positioning of the header pipes, to measure the distance between the back ends for a collector / Y-piece, and trying to keep them parallel, I found (if I remember correctly) that when they were parallel, the one touched that coolant hose. At best, it's only a few mm away.

There's been some mention that they are not the greatest hoses anyway, and that close to the header pipe is going to cause aging and hardening of the rubber. Silicone hose would be better there - that's an alternative to hose wrapping.
