That`s for the later 4-valve fuel injection engine.
Often if you put in XTZ660 to a search you will be given results for XT660Z which is not the same engine.
Can you get to a Yamaha dealer?

Unfortunately not.
Graham's (UK mz dealer)said the water pump isn't available anymore and said that seal might do but weren't sure.
I'm trying to order online but getting nothing.

This is the pump for a 1995 SZR660.
Should be the same yeah??
Is it these 2 seals failing that cause leak out the weep hole?

If it's just the o rings you could measure them (ID X section) and get them off eBay? Viton is a but more expensive but generally worth it if you can locate a supplier. I've bought lots of o rings not from OEM's.

I opened it up yesterday to see.
Looks like I need an oil seal and mechanical seal which are aren't available.
At the moment I'm trying to figure out if the ones for a Yamaha raptor will fit.

If you type "water pump mechanical seal xt660" into eBay you get a load of them available, all about £25.

I`ve just done that myself and it only comes up with ones for the later 4V FI engine (XT660Z), unless they are the same, i doubt it. The other one was an O ring type gasket for the XTZ660.

Looks like no. 8 and 9 here will do the job I think.
It's a 2001 grizzly but a lot of the waterpump parts have the same part no., like circlips and the dowel for the propeller shaft so hope both these seals are the same.

Also, is the mechanical seal ceramic so only non silicate coolant to be used?

Just to confirm the parts for a raptor will do the job.
Parts arrived earlier and fitted perfectly.

Oh well done!
That seemed harder work than it should have been though, certainly not helped by the XTZ660/XT660Z confusion.

Easy enough when I had the right parts.
The hardest part is probably getting the shell of the old mechanical seal out as it was rusted onto the waterpump.
I heated it up and used 13mm( or was it 14mm) socket to knock it out.

I'm going to post the part numbers of the correct parts used so it may help someone in future.

The mechanical seal comes in two halves.
The spring half and the ceramic seal half.
The ones in the pics below with the yellow arrows pointing to them.

Oil seal is the one with the red arrow.

Then you have two o rings for the waterpump housing; the blue and green arrows.

Or you could skip all that and get one of these kits which include bearing and circlips for the shaft ( cheaper as well)

Hopefully this helps someone down the line with the job.
Oh yeah, I also refilled with a non silicate coolant so more ceramic seal friendly.
