2001 Skorpion Tour MSRP?

Postby JSC_SLP » Sun Dec 25, 2005 2:38 pm

I'm checking out a 2001 tour with 7,000 miles on it within the next couple of days and I ran the price through KBB. it stated trade-in value at $2330 and retail at $3200. I was curious as to the "new" price of this model. I have found quite different values. $4995 to $6995. Please clue me in as to the most accurate MSRP for the '01 Skorpion Tour.
Any and all help will be most appreciated, thanks. JC

$4995 was msrp, however they generally sold for less, sometimes a lot less, than msrp....

This one has an asking price of $2700 USD. It looks pretty clean from the pictures (will have more opinion of this when I see it in person).
Why the significant decrease in resale value? Is this a reasonable price?

ps its sort of a collector bike not too many in the usa

but a nice daily driver

ADDED COMMENT
good starter bike and the power is good you will not be tired of it as with a smaller bike my 2 bikes are rt125 at 15hp and a saxon tour at about 30 hp and both do what i want but i have been riding 50 years so my views on what a bike should be are very different than most riders
1 turn brain on before the bike
2 always wear safe riding gear
3 a man in a hurry should leave the bike at home and take a jet plane :-D
4 the bike is yours dont let others ride it and dont ride theres that way
friends stay friends
5 never trust a car turn signal and be careful how you use yours

Would you consider this an adequate starter bike? I see it has ~48 hp which seems sufficient to act as the commuter I would like it to be, and the weight ~400lbs seems about right. (I'm 6'2" 200lbs 30yrs old). I'm signed up for the MSF course for Dec. 29th -30th and I'm looking at picking up gear as we speak. Thanks for the feedback.

It would be an excellent starter bike, I had one for 47,000 miles without any significant problems. $2700 is a fair price, but I would try to bargain with him....

if you think price is ok for condition of machine, buy it, very simple to maintain and a hoot to ride, my 98 traveller's done 53000 k. not a problem, and seems to go better every time i ride it. i have a 2003 cagiva xtra raptor also with 105 hp, but i still allways enjoy riding the muz, as i did this day. :o

Well, I got it!!

Postby JSC_SLP » Tue Dec 27, 2005 5:12 pm

I picked up this 2001 Skorpion tour with just over 7,000 miles for $2,700. (Including a Krypto chain, batt. charger, Ratcheting tiedowns, and allen wrench set). The bike has a small scratch on the can and front brake lever, but looks solid mechanically and is surprisingly clean. :-D
I just got my gear ordered from newenough, Scorpion helmet, and MSF scheduled in two days. I can't wait to start riding regularly!
