Skorpion Replacement Cooling Fan FOUND

Postby Oilhead » Wed Jan 05, 2022 11:06 pm

I found these dc motors on Amazon as an economical replacement for the Skorpion's dreaded OEMs.

ICQUANZX Permanent Magnet Motors,31ZY 12V 8000RPM High Speed CW/CCW Permanent Magnet DC Motor for DIY Generator Mainly Used for Electric Fan Ventilation Mechanism, Heater.(12V8000R)

They were a direct fit and I've been running them since July here in sunny Florida. So far no complaints, though they have not been subjected to heavy rain. And to be honest, I use water wetter in the coolant and the fans seldom ever kick on as a result.

Nice!
I pressume you have to dismantle the fan, and then replace the motor?
Is it an easy job?

Great find, "31zy DC motor" entered in eBay brings up loads of variants so take care to get the right one. There have been lots of alternative parts found for our Skorpions, I wish we has a database to make all these items easy to find.
Riding it is much more fun than polishing it.

There is such a data base on this forum somewhere; I think it's called Skorpion alternative parts. I can't seem to find it but I'm sure someone will post a link to it soon.
Good hunting!

Found it! It's in the Mechanic/tech talk section; under "interchangeable parts- a list". :D
