Postby Flipper » Thu Mar 23, 2006 1:40 pm

Hi All
Just bought the latest edition of What Bike (UK Spring 2006)
Under the description of the Baghira (Enduro + Supermoto)
I Quote, "Due to be phased out" :( Anyone know any more details?

At the moment the Baghira models are still being produced. In the end though the supply of engines from Yamaha is bound to stop. Dont know if there are any other motors they can use.

that is a real dirt digger

use this motor and cut a deal for bombardier to sell
the supermoto version in canada and us make parts in germany
put it together in canada as dealers order them

It would have to be the new Yamaha 660; they're selling it to Aprilia..and I think there's one other one using it? It would cost more, though, I suppose. Rotax might be another option.

How well is the company doing? The sales of the Baghira weren't that good or there wouldn't have been all those 2002-2003 models around being sold in 2005. How are the sales of the 125? - That competes with so many other European 125's. No US market, NA distributor stopped.

Maybe Suzuki DR650 motors are an option; CCM used them (uses them?)

One of the Derbi's uses the 4 valve 660 Yam engine. As for the Suzuki 650 engine, it is still used by CCM.

And it's a complete slug. And quite difficult to tune cheaply and reliably.

So I understand, saying that one of the members of http://www.solentsuermotos.co.uk has one with a 710 big bore kit and it goes really well :)
