What are the head pipes for your exhaust system from and what kind of clearance do you have from the FCRs?

I dont know. i didnt install them, the guy i baught the bike from he said the whole exost system was for a raptor and he bent the head pipes to fit and relocated the coolent lines.

Yeaterday was beautifully sunny warm at 15º.
This was my ride for the day:

Only rode 50 mls and could not have ridden further and was glad to be back in the garage. Got on my SZR and first reaction was that the clutch cable was broken! Everything and I mean everything is hard work about riding this. My left wrist hurts from the extremely heavy clutch and as a "maual laborer" I am not exactly a weakling. Bars are way out front, pegs high...

The engine, which we restored, is great, tho, a real puller from 2000 upwards, no chain lash, just beef. And the sound!!! official and legal 104db out of the original Conti megs.
Hard to imagine but the truth and it says much more about the stamina and rider qualities of my Generation. Hailwood won the 1978 Senior TT hands down on on a 1000cc version of this thing. That's three laps around the mountian circuit at maximum speed which was over 100mph lap speed.



It is not mine and it is worth a mint, so I was careful. Lots more on this bike on my blog.

I brought a Ducati 900SD Darmah brand new in 1979 and know where you are coming from when you say these bikes are hard work to ride, but well worth it when on open roads.
Mine used to be a real pain in town though, if traffic was heavy the clutch would get overheated and need adjusting after about 3 miles or 15 minutes
Learnt a lot about riding bikes on the Darmah as well, even used to control a bit of rear wheel drift on it, something I have never managed on tamac in a controlled manner since
Sold it after 18 months as it was unreliable with quite major things going wrong (rear wheel cush drive breaking up, 1st gear failure, small end failure on rear cylinder, clutch mechanism required work, and finally a valve seat fell out. The valve seat thing wouldn't have been to bad if this was an unusual, Mick Walker racing used to keep oversize ones in stock

Previous bike a Suzuki GT500 covered 26000 miles in 24 months, Darmah covered 9000 miles in 18 months
I still look back at the bike with a certain amount of fondness though
