Baghira 660 rear brake.

Postby Tonyf » Thu Mar 27, 2014 3:21 pm

Relatively new to the Baghira and just changed the pads /bled the brakes. Not since I had a T509 speed triple have I had such a poor back brake. There's not excessive travel on the rear brake pedal but the rear brake is still rubbish - I'm assuming this is normal?

I find mine to be ok, does your bike have the original braided lines and grimeca caliper fitted? not wishing to teach you to suck eggs, but I assume you exercised the pistons when you changed the pads as they are prone to stick abit if left for a while or poorly maintained by its former owner, I have had to clean both the front and rear on mine a couple of times after a period of lay up. I use brake cleaner and some very fine wet and dry to remove surface crap and a bit of brake fluid for lube.

the rear of my rt125 suffered the same problem last fall
took several days and a total flush of the system
and pushing the pucks back and forth several times to get it all working

The pads will need to bed in for a few hundred miles before you get a good brake.

But more importantly, what make of pads did you use? Some of the ones available on ebay etc are just rubbish, and some of the sintered ones available put too much heat into the caliper, boiling even fresh fluid.

I've to do my Mastiff rear pads soon. What pads are recommended and which are to be avoided?
