Rear end chopped off!

Postby tcuttter » Tue May 27, 2014 2:09 pm

Hi
I have an MZ Mastiff which I've had for over 6 years now and I still luv it.
But there's always been one things that I'd like to change on it - the rear tail piece.
I've put on a small rear light and number plate but I think the tail looks too long
Has anyone shortened the bike by cutting of the last 6 or 8 inches off the frame and giving it a "shorter" look.
I need to see a pic of someone who has already had a play.
Thoughts?

Appreciate what you both said but since this pic I've removed the grab rails. When I said I wanted it shorter I wasn't refering to the backlight and number plate - I was refering to the length of the plastic tail piece.
I'm sure if shorter in length it would make the bike look more "squatier" and look better for it.

oh i see now , you could chop it off just where the seat ends and use a rear wheel hugger for the rain spray..i would play around with photoshop first , see if you like it

I understood you and still think the changes you made were for the better. The rear fender is modeled after a motocross bike for a reason. These bikes were made to play on the street and in the dirt. If you want a "squatier" look, you are going to have to do more than bob the tail a bit.

that long tail shoves you away from the rear tire when you get tossed off in the dirt
nothing like having your bike eat you when you fall off

LOL!
Thanks for the replies - but Den - those pics of the Mastiff with a chopped tail piece made me laugh -reminded me of when I decided to give my terrier a No 2 all over with my new clippers and he ended up looking like a rat! - No tail piece changes the looks completely for the worst me thinks.
