I've just swapped my Pirelli diablos onto another one of my bikes as they are far too hard for the Skorpion and back end tends to slide too much regardless of warmed up or not. Anybody out that can recommend a sticky set that is value for money?

i am less than a happy camper with the Pirelli tires i put on my saxon tour 500cc
there not too bad on dry roads
but will scare the crap out of you on wet pavement
and we have a few brick street here and on wet brick there a holy terror

mt 66 front
mt75 rear

These seem to be popular on the Skorpion. Go with the 090 if you don't care about wear and are going for maximum grip, otherwise the 45 is supposed to be the best all around. http://www.bridgestone.com/products/mot ... /bt45.html

When I had my Tour in '09, replaced the rear M1 with a Metzeler M3, still had tread left on the front stock M1. No slipping as far as I dared push 'em.
Only 3k miles though, before it was worn out.
If I wanted sticky and didn't care about miles...these would be on the list.

How old are those tyres? If you aren't sure, you can read the week and year of manufacture at the end of the sidewall marking that begins "DOT." If they are more than a few years old, that would explain the hardness. I am running Diablo IIs on our Traveller and they stick like glue. My other favorite is the Dunlop Qualifier II, but since you live where it actually rains you might prefer the new Michelin Pilot Road 3s.

The main problem one is a 2011 so not that old. As it happens I've just bought a pair of rosso 2s ex-raced but new so they seem nice and soft. I'll see how they do. Eric

does handle well with them, did you put a 140 or 150 on the back.
I put 150 and find that i'm using the full extent of the front and struggling to get the rear to its edge (I will not)

Mines got a 140/70 on the back as that was what was offered to me as used. The rear has been well ridden to the edge (not by me!) and they seem to stick like snot to a chair leg!!
