Skorpion ignition switch

Postby billr » Fri Sep 12, 2014 3:20 pm

Has anyone replaced the electrical part of the switch?

Reason:
Lost power Wednesday. It started with the intermittent contact with handlebar movement.
Checking the wiring and found a broken solder connection in the ignition switch.
Fixed that and moved the wires around for a bit more slack...all good for now.

Knowing how things go...

Is there anything that can be subbed...

I e-mailed Grahams for a price quote.

look at link for a list of bikes that use the same keys may be same lock set

moto guzzi comes to mind as well as some HD
a local breaker may have one

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2596&p=14824&hilit=keyskeys#p14824

keyskeys in the site search box
if you take it all off be careful to locktite the bolts so it does not fall apart and wreck you

Thanks Dave.
I knew it was in here somewhere.
Will check with the local junkers to see what is out there.

Good reminder on the lock-set bolts. They are tight, I gave 'em a good twist while I was in there.
If I can just get the electric switch, that's just 2 Philips screws.

not many scrappers up my way any more

a good place to start may be a guzzi dealers scrap tub/scrap frames

or ask scooter club member for who works on the yamaha zuma scooters

and a lot of harleys use these switches

but bikes with rotax 4 strokes are wired different because of the way the spark is shut off
HD MT 500 is one
