Chain buggers crankcase

Postby breakwellmz » Wed Feb 25, 2015 4:11 am

I thought i had got away with only minor damage when this split link gave way until i took the engine sprocket cover/guard off and started the engine.
That lump is the lower sprocket cover mounting boss. The hole up the middle(Intended to be there i am told)matches the one i now have in the crankcase.
Time for the epoxy/aluminium putty.

Ouch! It could have been much worse if it wrapped around your leg instead! Did you not feel the chain clicking through the foot pegs before it shot its conkers? Its usually an early warning sign.

Split links should be banned, give me a good old rivet link anytime.
