Baghira Gearing Recommendations

Postby WAPanther » Thu Apr 23, 2015 11:42 pm

I just picked up my 01' Black Panther Street Moto last night and it's been a blast. Super torquey and light. My friend already crashed it once!

I've changed fluids, bled brakes, inspected all basic junk. The one thing I need to do for sure (besides replace the disgusting air filter) is replace the chain. I took a look and I guess I'm running 14/45 (stock is 15/45). The bike isn't as wheelie friendly as I'd hoped and I'm looking to change that. I'm working with 17 inch 90/10 DS tyres.

Can someone clarity that my understanding of gear ratios is correct? If I went 15/47 off of stock 15/45, I'd have more low end torque to play around with. But since I'm considering going from 14/45 to 15/47 I'd actually be gaining a little top end. So maybe the solution is to try 14/47? I'd appreciate some testimonies on how these ratios have worked for you guys. I read one thread about a 15/50 setup and the guy loved it so that's always an option too :D.

Thanks!

never use smaller than a 15 on the motor
its too hard on the output shaft

the germans usually gear to tall
