dateing cetificate [for bike ]

I have recently acquired an MZ Skorpion Sport and although these models were only manufactured between 1994 and 2002, my bike was not registered for the first time with the DVLA until 2011.

The Engine No. is 4NN - 002233

The Frame No. is SNZ6SE200S7502223

Is there any way that I can verify and obtain a dating certificate for it's year of manufacture ? If this date is before 1997, the bike would qualify for Classic Insurance. many thanks del

the vin tells all you need and the license people should know and so should the insurance people

The Frame No. is SNZ6SE200S7502223

the s is the year = 1995

it should have a 1995 plate
this needs corrected because some COP will be writing you a ticket for an illegal plate
your frame number tells him your plate should be a 1995

That's interesting, hadn't realised that VIN numbers had a common format like this.

the DVLA needs to be ask about this...

because some copper may want to impound your bike because the plate says its a 2011

and the frame number says 1995

Many years ago all the British car manufacturers spent more time on strike and cars sat in fields for yonks unsold . Your new car could have sat all winter covered in snow and ice before being delivered to you as new.I have seen Ssangyong (odd ball Korean 4x4) cars that have impossibly new plates, that have sat on boats or in importers compounds waiting for a buyer . In the UK all that matters is the first registration date .

used to be that way here my R50S bmw was made in summer of 1961 title says 1963
the papers i have for the Saxon Tour show it as a 1995 model but the bill of sale from dealer to first owner shows
sold as new in 2000 with 20 some miles or km on it

we are not the manufacturer of the bike – MZ is in a liquidation process. We are dealing only with spare parts. So I’m not able to track the frame number correctly thie the :| reply from info@muz.de

A friend of mine bought a sport from one of those batches possibly from Japan. It was registered 2011 on an 11 plate but looking at mine afterwards made me realise that my 97R plate was actually newer with tell tale signs like decals and so on. Eric
