Having a bit of difficulty selecting first gear on occassions. Have fitted new clutch cable and adjusted a few times but no improvement. Any suggestions?

try adjusting the arm out a little,,( fitted to shaft on engine case) and reset cable,
have you fitted new clutch at all , theres a special order to replace the plates

No,clutch not changed. Will try adjusting arm. All other gears are fine and finding neutral is no problem.

Adjusted arm and definite improvement, seems to be the way to go. Went for a test run about 30 miles, couple of miles from home gear lever broke off, lost out on road somewhere, managed to get home. Inspected the break and would appear it had partially broken before as main portion of break was dull and coroded whereas small bit was bright which was the only bit holding the gear lever on. It probably was flexing somewhat before it let go and contributed to the selection problem.

Judging by previous posts it looks like i'm in for some fun getting a replacement.
