Interchangable Rear Shock?

Hi team,

Looking for a new (to me) race shock. I saw a post about the rear shock from a 1989 to 1999 FZR600 being swappable. Is this true?

Thanks,

Charles

Correct on the FZR but with a heavier spring.

BMW s1000rr, Aprilia rs250 and 2008 on Yamaha r6 shocks can be made to fit with a sleeve and shims on top and enlarging the lower shock bolt on the bottom but all with heavier rear springs.

These's also some custom options at all the usual suppliers, race tech, WP (like the Replica), Penske, etc.

I have a s1000rr on my Sport this year with a Hyerpro spring.

If you want something that's going to work for you instead of just being another tuning issue to sort out, find a local suspension shop and have them build one for you. The price that I was quoted by my guy is comparable with what you'd spend on a new shock, but it will be built for my bike. No mods or second guessing spring rates.

Thanks guys. I'm looking for a stop gap as I'm not sure I'm going to race the Skorpion again next year. I'll poke around the FZR approach for a little bit, but Ed, I get your point. I've been chasing issues for a while now, so I understand that It's probably best to do it right.
