Water Damage- Options?

Postby bueller » Sun Mar 20, 2016 12:14 pm

Hello Folks,

I bought a lemon. Crank and main bearings are completely rusted and caused oil starvation to the top end. Before i attempt to sell the rest of the bike, i thought i'd reach out here and see if anyone had a spare motor. So, does anyone have one?

If not, expect a parts bike for sale soon.

Thanks all.

I know this is probably buried deep in the forums, but it's too deep for me....Here in the states, raptor and xt660 motors are plentiful. Can anyone confirm whether the different engine mounting points are an easy hurtle to overcome? Seeing as i really only need a bottom end, it sounds like there's an equivalent air cooled yamaha 600 motor with similar mounting points (thanks David)?

Thanks in advance.

one of the air cooled xtz 600 maybe
try not to cut any thing off the frame so its not a mess if you find an ori engine

Go to forum member Bill Jurgenson posts, page 12, third post... Neutral switch part #

"The online partslist is at Yamaha US. Over here (Germany) there is no counterpart, unfortunately.
For the entire bottom end except the right side cover go to 1993 XT600E
and for top end parts the Raptor 660."

The discussion about what XT gear set / case parts would be found in one of these threads, when Bill has shared his vast knowledge, in the past.

If I uncover other information, I'll of course post...

Don't be in a hurry to part out your MZ as it is really is a Yamaha engine.

Hope to encourage...

Also, If my memory serves me, Bill adapted the four valve XT top end to his MZ's gear set / case set.

The Skorpion engine is essentially an XTZ660 motor just carrying MuZ outer covers, it even has the XTZ gear cluster that`s why 1st gear is so low. Oh and yes, the XT600 air cooled barrel, piston and head can be fitted as Bill Jurgenson has done.
