TS250/1 Rear wheel

Postby tony dymott » Sat Oct 18, 2014 3:04 pm

I have had a couple of 250 MZ's and have been impressed. I am building a diesel engine special into a TS250/1 frame. I believe this normally has a 16" rear and 18" front- is that right? Would the swinging arm take an 18" wheel? I am hoping to produce a trail machine hence the desire for larger wheels than standard.

Regards

The 18" ETZ wheel in a TS250/1 frame fouls the front of the rear mudguard under full suspension compression, in my experience. I've not seen one foul the guard directly above the wheel. A smaller section rear tyre may help.

An ETZ250 swinging arm should bolt straight in though.

Thank you for that. I will probably use a different mudguard and possibly longer rear suspension especially if I go for a 21" front wheel. But the option of the ETZ swinging arm is useful info.
I appreciate the quick response.

Here's my ETZ125 with an 18" rear wheel, I shifted the cross brace forward by about 25mm

Thank you,
A very smart looking machine and I note the off road tyres. I was always of the view picked up from others that such tyres would really impair the bikes grip on tarmac but having built and ridden an LE Velocette/ Valiant hybrid in every condition possible it doesn't seem to be true, at least for me. I have, however, ben accused of being a cautious rider.

Thanks
