clutch cable

Postby handsomejackuk » Fri Jul 10, 2009 8:57 am

Hi,

Just removed my clutch cable, as really stiff. where it passes exhaust, it has burnt away the outer casing and is bent.

Need replacement. Price for new from grahams is £23.47 anyone know if there is an alternative cable. or a better replacement. length - 1120mm. ?

would ideally like to change the clutch lever at the same time....

Thanks Alun

Hi,
Maybe this company can supply a replacement. They say you can send in the original and they can reproduce it.

I haven't tried them myself though. Maybe we can do a group order or something as I need a longer cable myself (for my skorpion that is).

David.

hi,

thanks for that, just that i was looking for a cheaper alternative, and getting one quicker. seems as though most bikes use the same clutch lever end. and most of the engine parts look similar. maybe it is just the length that is so different.

Anyone like to share some advice, as i am going to my local motocross shop tomorrow, and my local bike small bike shop that has been about for years. He says he may have something that will match up

Any clues on what bike to look for ?

Thanks Alun

I can confirm that the Ninja 500 cable fits the Skorpion. It is the correct length and has a 90 degree bend on the lever end, like the cable that came with my used bike, except it is a little shorter radius. The barrel cable end that slides into the lever is a little small but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work just as well.

my 660 traveller lost the end at the clutch lever

i used a clutch cable from my saxon tour

changed out the lever and perch
(a mystery part cannondale e440i think
yes i always play with odd bikes)
and used some nuts and fittings on the bottom end
from a bmw to make it work now it has adjustments at both ends
picture of fitment on request
now i only stock a saxon tour cable
