For fuild, it is ok i use any type of dot 4 fluid for disc brake?

the shop manual i have say's dot 4 fluid on page 73
it also says dot 4 fluid on the top cover
of the front brake master cylinder

do not get the fluid on plastic and cover up your
speedometer face with some thing when working on the front brakes..
as in the past the fumes from it could fog the speedometer lens..
new type plastic may not do this but don't take a chance

yes, any dot 4 fluid is ok. it relates to the minium boiling point of the fluid, some are rated higher than others. the Motul 600 is the best, I use it in the off road bikes, and in my baggy.
just never use dot 5!!

is there something wrong with DOT5 being used on an MZ??what about DOT5.1??

all i know is that DOT5 and above is that it won't spoil your paint job if u spill on them...

dot 5 fluid is silicone based, NOT compatible with our rubber components. it will cause a brake system failure.
stick with a quality dot 4 like the Motul 600. only in a racing situation can you boil that fluid. :-D

i just buy a dot 4 brake fluid, when i want fill into the rear brake system, i just find out, the current fuel is total different form the new one i buyed. The new one, is more light. Is there any different fluid for the front brake and rear brake system? please advice..

did u check your brake pads first??because u shouldn't top up if your brake pads are worn...replace then...then u can see that the fluid level will go up...
but if your pads are ok...then u may top up...OR flush the old fluid and pour a
new. This would help keep your braking system in good form.

p/s:i'm loosing my front brakes firm grip because of improper maintainance...maybe the rubber mechanism in master pump is worn out...(sigh)
i miss my stoppies :cry:
