Help Please! How to short the side stand switch?

Postby Gobsheen » Mon Sep 01, 2014 7:28 am

Hi,
My local bike shop reckons my my side stand switch could be the cause of my electrical problems. He suggested shorting it out to see if it makes any difference. I've no idea where to find it in a connector though and I don't want to cut anything at the switch if I can avoid it. Can someone point me towards the best place (assuming that's a connector) to short it out?

Thanks guys.......I'm looking forward to the day I can help someone on here!

Check the sidestand joint?? There will be two wires disconnect them and then join them together - be gentle you don't want to do damage.
All the best

Old Dog, not sure what you mean by the side stand joint. The wires going into the side stand switch are hard wired in. I can only follow the cable so far and unsure where it goes. I'm guessing it'll go to a connector somewhere and shorting will be easier there.

Thanks Dave, I'll see if I can find that relay and make sense of it.

On both my Skorps the sidestand switch failed, not switch itself but the relay up under the seat.
A small relay with 4 connections on right side,2 larger and 2 smaller connecters, unplug and short out the smaller ones.
This will disable the the sidestand switch.
