Newbie from the Isle of Man UK

Postby manxie » Thu Mar 10, 2016 2:25 pm

Hello there!! Just a quick hello to introduce myself. I have a 1972 ES250/2 needing a FULL resto, so no doubt I`ll be on here looking for loads of advice once I get the project started :) I love the look of them and hopefully one day it`ll be back on the road. In the meantime, if anyone knows of a Silver Star 500 for sale bare me in mind? I don`t know what they`re worth or how rare they are but all suggestions welcomed  Thank you.

Hi. Thanks for the info (links) for the ES. It will be a while before I get started on it and is a genuine "barn find" so is very rough to say the least! It looks like the Silver Stars are a bit of a rare beast? I know nothing about them but they look like a very interesting thumper, maybe I`ll just look for a decent Skorpion instead  Cheers.

Yeah the Silver Stars are a bit of a rarity. I know of a MZ Saxon Country 500 that might be for sale but that's about it at the moment

Don't really know too much about that model? I see it`s a trailie, what 500cc motor does it use....I think the 660 Skorpion is Yamaha?? Just had a look and it uses the Rotax motor ..... duh!!!! I don`t know if it would be to tall for me as I`m a short a$$ They look a nice bike though, maybe PM me further details but may have to sell my Fazer? Cheers.

rotax 504e 492cc i think

i have a 95 saxon tour with the rotax,,,and a traveller i like the saxon tour best

and the traveller has me on tip toe and can be a bit of a beast some times

the low center of gravity on the bmw /2's and /5's i rode for years have me spoiled

Thanks for that Dave. I like the look of the Country and looking at the internet, the seat height is virtually the same as my Fazer, about 780mm? I`m new to this scene really, I`ve had a few Jap singles in the past and now like the look of the MZ`s. I`m sure something will turn up, maybe even locally? and hopefully one day get the ES on the road. Cheers, Steve.
