In terms of locking the crank.. I use rope down the plug hole. This stops the piston getting to TDC so it locks.

The short one (which seems to be the only one you can get) will fit to the standard bracket - you may need to bend it a little but it will fit, at least it did on mine.
Being a short pipe you will find that it robs the engine of what little low down torque that these engines have, instead of starting to pull at around 3500 RPM it will move it up about 1000RPM, it also robs some of the mid range, however you will find that the motor revs much more easily and you can exceed the red line (6500RPM?) easily - not much point as you do not get any more power.
Basically with these short pipes you have to be revving the motor pretty hard to maintain a decent pace.
My "solution" was to weld a 10" (or therabouts) long cylindrical section in the middle of the pipe, and as far as I can feel it now works at least as good as, if not better than the standard pipe - I'll post up a pic of the pipe sometime if anyone wants to see it.

I've ordered 250/251/301!?. I guess I'll find out if it fits when it arrives.
