Thanks for the replies. Regarding my crappy spraying... Paint adhesion hasn't been an issue. It's the orange peel finish I'm having an issue with. I have changed spray guns since the project began and I think that's where half the issues have started. Since the last post I have sanded down the front mudguard and then polished it which has created a pretty good finish. Although my original finish was bad it was at least well coated so I have been able to sand it back quite well. I'm in the process of doing the same with the tank. The downside is that thee parts ill have a glossier finish than the rest of the bike but this shluld fade over time.

...and no, I still haven't got the engine running. Life keeps getting in the way and I'm also in the process of sorting out a long list of issues with my Trabant. I'm hoping to put a bit more effot into the MZ over winter.

Hi. I'm new on this board, and found this thread through google. I have at ts250A or /1A or mixed (?) restoration project as well, but it is the first time I have worked on a motorbike, and I'm not very familiar with MZ's. I read through the thread with great interest, andI am looking forward to news on your progress!

There seem to be several members here who really know a lot about the ts250xx and even the NVA versions. I am trying to do a historically correct restoration, since my son has an East German collection, and would like to add the bike to it. I have been struggling to find information on some of specific details, so I think I'll start my own restoration thread ad well!
