I'm gettin' one of these, but I can't decide which.

Each have their own positives and negatives.

Please be honest and tell me why I should choose one over the other. I've done lots of research, so I have a fairly good idea, but I wanna' hear it from you guys, especially any of you who may have owned or ridden both.

Thanks. :)

The KTM is faster and lighter, the MZ is going to give you more trouble free miles and is MUCH cheaper. Which is best? It all depends on what you are going to do with it......

What are the 'troubled' miles one can expect from a KTM...besides the main shaft bearing?

Check this out http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/Fo ... 00145.html

You could also do a web search on "broke KTM" "KTM failures" etc

I bought my MZ as a fun supermoto style street bike, and that is exactly what it is. It is way fun, very reliable, and different.
the KTM might be faster and lighter, but I don't know how much better that makes it as a street bike. I have raced my MZ in the novice class at a local supermoto race, and beat a few ktm's in the process. ( 5th out of 22)
after 12,000 miles, my bike has needed:
3 sets pirelli MT60's
5 oil changes
1 valve adjust
1 brake light switch
1 chain

if I was to do it over again, I would buy the MZ. it still runs and looks like it is new after almost 4 years.

Plus one other plus point with the MZ. Dont know about where you are, but in teh UK they are just to common.

you my like the down size
my last ride before the rt125 was a 1974 bmw R90S

and i like the 125 better
except on a really long trip where the posted speeds are 65 75 mph
at 55 the rt125 does fine but then i never was a Jet Pilot
almost all my bike have been bmw /2 and /5 models

as for the saxon tour its fun but the rt125 is sort of more user friendly
you just ride it... the saxon tour has to be told all the time what to do
or it will get you in trouble and on trips it is a harsh ride i can actually
make better time on the 125
have lots of fun :D
