ETZ is running again

I've been on this forum for some time, as a Skorpion Sport and Tour owner, but have actually had a two strokes rather longer - since 1996. Six years ago my ETZ 300 suffered a collapsed frame, and its taken me six years and a retirement before I got around to replacing it.

Is this element of the forum still running? It got pretty quiet on the 660 pages.

I'm in West Wales, in the UK, and also run a modern Royal Enfield. Got to put together at least one more 250 now, and have three 125s needing work.

Richard.

Welcome back. The 2t portion of the forum is predominantly used, yes.

Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.

Strangely enough I’ve had two Skorpion sports for many years and really enjoyed them and then found an interest in the two stokes on here so now I’ve swapped around and enjoying the proper humble stuff just as much.

Puffs - it wasn't a jump but hidden corrosion inside the lower frame - the bit that supports the swing arm and footrests. Just lifting it onto the mainstand one February ready for a camping trip and I noticed that the stand wasn't raising it as usual. On examination the damage was such that replacement was the simplest answer. First one I've ever had go like this. I do wonder what damage a crash did a few months previously, fairly low speed though it was.

Fortunately I had a spare frame.

Got a few others to put together - I do like working on them.

Rather worse, sadly I didn't photograph it. The base of the frame was separating.

It is possibly quite surprising to the lay people what can be fixed if you find (or can do) fabrication. I don't know how many vehicles I have worked on or have known of (including my own vehicles) whereby they would have been scrapped (or indeed have been scrapped) because of something breaking which seemed so terminal at the time, but access to the right tools and/or expertise can easily resolves otherwise. But like all these things they take money if you don't have the expertise and tools yourself. The choice is to scrap a vehicle for such a problem, or spend hundreds of pounds getting it fixed by someone else, or if you have the above expertise and tools then it merely takes your time and some basic preparation. When you have the ability to fix these seemingly unfixable things (because you don't have the expertise or the money) then it all seems so clear and 'easy' to keep an old horse trotting.

I think from what he's said he scrapped the frame and used another.
